How to use TextCompareLab

  1. Paste the original text on one side and the changed text on the other.
  2. Choose the options you want, for example to ignore whitespace or letter case.
  3. Run the comparison. Added, removed and unchanged text are highlighted so you can see what changed.
  4. Optionally save the comparison to the history list in this browser to open it again later.

It works for drafts, contracts, essays, notes and code snippets.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The comparison runs in your browser. The text you paste is not sent to TextCompareLab to be compared.

Is TextCompareLab free?

Yes. The site may show advertisements.

Are my saved comparisons kept?

Saved comparisons are kept only in this browser on this device. Clearing your browser data removes them, and they do not follow you to another device or browser.

Is there a size limit?

There is no fixed limit, but very large texts can be slow on older devices because everything is processed locally.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The page adapts to small screens.

Can I clear what the site saved?

Delete items in the history list, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Your texts

The comparison happens on your device. The texts you paste are not uploaded to a TextCompareLab server.

Data stored in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage, which stays on your device, to remember:

  • your theme choice (Auto, Light or Dark);
  • your comparison options;
  • saved comparisons in the history list. When you run a comparison it may be added to the history automatically. A saved entry includes the two texts you compared.

Anyone using the same browser profile on your device can see these entries. Delete them from the history list or clear this site's data in your browser settings.

Fonts

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends a request to Google when the page loads. This request does not include your pasted text.

Advertising

The site is connected to Google AdSense and may show advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show and measure ads, and in some cases to personalize them, according to your region and settings. Contact form

If you send a message through the contact page, the name, email address (optional) and message you type are sent to the site owner by email. They are used only to read and answer your message. The contact form does not include the texts you compared. Please do not put sensitive information in the message. The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated spam, which runs a check in your browser and may process technical information such as your IP address.

Analytics and accounts

The site has no accounts and no sign-in, and does not use its own analytics.
